Prepare a 35 × 45 mm Japan visa photo

Photos are processed in your browser. They are never uploaded to any server.

The paper-photo standard covered here is 35 × 45 mm. Its diagram places head height at 34 ±2 mm and the space above the head at 4 ±2 mm. This is the Embassy of Japan in Serbia route used by the tool, not a blanket rule for every Japanese embassy or eVISA application.

Check the receiving office first

Visa Photo Prep cites the application-photo standard published by the Embassy of Japan in Serbia. Use the preset only when your receiving office follows that 35 × 45 mm paper format.

If you are applying through eVISA or another embassy, open that route's current instructions. It may ask for a different shape, file type or submission method.

Read the diagram as three dimensions

• Finished paper photo: 35 mm wide × 45 mm high.
• Head height: 34 ±2 mm, which means 32 to 36 mm.
• Top margin: 4 ±2 mm, which means 2 to 6 mm.

The background should be white or one plain colour, without shadows, texture or lines. The cited standard calls for a photo taken within six months.

Give the crop enough room

Take a sharp photo from the front with even light. Leave space above the hair and around the shoulders. If the camera is too close, the face may look distorted and the 34 mm head height can leave no room for the top margin.

Use the original file. Do not begin with a screenshot, a print that was photographed again, or a thumbnail saved from a chat. Those shortcuts remove detail before the crop starts.

Set the head height and top margin

1. Select Japan, Paper visa · Embassy in Serbia.
2. Add the portrait, then move and zoom it inside the 35 × 45 frame.
3. Place one marker at the crown and one at the bottom of the chin. Aim for 32 to 36 mm.
4. Check that the space above the crown is 2 to 6 mm.
5. Inspect the background for shadows, texture and visible lines. Check the face, expression and sharpness yourself.
6. Download the single JPG or 4 × 6 print sheet.

The site exports 413 × 531 pixels at 300 ppi. That is its print conversion from 35 × 45 mm. The cited paper standard does not prescribe those pixels.

Print one copy before cutting the sheet

Use actual-size or 100% scaling. Turn off automatic fitting and borderless enlargement. Measure the finished paper copy: 35 × 45 mm. Then measure the head and top margin again, because printer cropping can move both.

If the result is the wrong physical size, change the printer setting. Do not squeeze or stretch the face to compensate for printer scale.
